The state of California has released a new History/Social Science Framework for California Public Schools. The new framework offers an new conceptual model for history instruction. The Division of Instruction will be releasing a series of professional development modules to support implementation of the instructional shifts included in the framework. Constitution Day 2025
Federal Legislation and a Presidential Proclamation of May 2005 require that schools conduct educational programs and activities in observance of Constitution Day during the two-week window surrounding September 17, each year. Each school principal is required to certify that activities to observe Constitution Day were held during this specified time. The 2025 Constitution Day Memorandum is available here. The 2025 Constitution Day Conference will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. For more information, including registration details, please click here.
2025 National Voter Registration Day and High School Voter Education Weeks
September 16, 2025 is National Voter Registration Day, and the last two full weeks in September are High School Voter Education Weeks. This provides an opportunity for high schools and their students to partner with county election officials to promote civic education and participation on campus and foster an environment that cultivates lifelong voters and active citizens.
